G3RWF goes back to Uganda
Nick G3RWF (FOC 1902) is returning to Uganda on 20 January for a further two months in Fort Portal as 5X1NH. He will be operational on all bands except 160m - there just isn't enough room for an antenna.
He is hoping to concentrate on 80m if QRN is better than previously and also on 10m and 12m - ever hopeful that the odd sunspot will oblige!
Nick is there to do voluntary work so is likely to be on the air during evenings and early mornings (5X is UTC +3 hours).
He is working with a new community university as they develop their School of Education and on this trip expects to be exploring the widening of distance learning in other towns in the area. This will be his fifth visit there - a total of 7 months.
The FOC Marathon and the RSGB Commonwealth Contest are firmly fixed in the timetable. The equipment is an Elecraft K3 and the antennas are an inverted-V dipole and a Butternut HF2V vertical. AC power can be an optional extra in Uganda but there is some solar power.
