With sadness we announce the passing of Tom Taormina K5RC (#1760).

From the Daily DX: “K5RC, Thomas S “Tom” Taormina, is now a Silent Key. Tom was a member of FOC, CW ops, A1 OP, and the CQ Contest Hall of Fame. K5RC had 340/374 (current/total) confirmed in the ARRL DXCC Mixed Standings.”

Tom joined FOC in November 2001, and was also known by his other callsigns K7RC and NV7A.  He also built and operated the Comstock Memorial Station, W7RN, which he recently closed down.  His station was used remotely by many, including Ellen White W1YL in recent years.  

Our sympathies to his XYL Midge K7AFO on her loss.
