With regret we announce the passing of Bob Whelan, G3PJT (1778) on the morning of December 4th.

From Lionel G5LP this sad news from Bob’s XYL:  “I am sorry to tell you that Bob passed away this morning. it was very calm and peaceful with Emma, Rachel and I with him, We are all heart broken.  Rosemary Xxx“.

Bob joined FOC in June 2002, and also held calls 8P9IF, E51PJT, VK1MJ, and VP2EJT.  He was our past President from 2010 through 2011, and was awarded the Al Slater award In 2013.  

On a personal note, Bob recruited me, your Membership Secretary, back in 2011 as the first non-G Committee member of our club.  He took a chance on me, and I treasured every time he called me on the air.
